When a Custom Build Pays Off Against Off-the-Shelf Software
Not every process belongs in a packaged product. Standard software fits where your operations are interchangeable. A custom build earns its keep where the process itself is the differentiator and cannot be forced into someone else's product without surrendering the advantage you have built. In those cases we develop full-stack: Python with FastAPI on the backend, Angular with TypeScript and OWL on the frontend, PostgreSQL as the database. We design interfaces as clear contracts using REST, JSON-RPC and webhooks, so your systems exchange data reliably.
Software becomes costly when only one person understands it. We engineer against that risk. Automated tests, mandatory code reviews and maintained documentation are part of every delivery. There is no single-developer lock-in, and you stay in control when people move on. Security is not bolted on afterwards but designed in from the start, aligned with the EU AI Act and the controls of the German BSI IT-Grundschutz framework.
We add AI features where they make a measurable difference, for example citation-grounded answers drawn from your own documents through our ESTAYA AI Platform with retrieval-augmented generation. On request we run the application on our own servers in Germany.
